The Children of Abraham are Building Bridges
The Monotheistic Religions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism recognize their common heritage and unite for peace under the Abrahamic Faith Tradition!
September 19th, 2004 1:00 PM @ Mitchell Auditorium, The College of St. Scholastica, 1200 Kenwood Avenue, Duluth, MN
Under the auspices of the Arrowhead Interfaith Council, members of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities are working together to bring The Children of Abraham Project to Duluth, MN.
Created and performed by Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, this play is a ray of hope, a fictional retelling, inspired by the story of Prophet Abraham and his two sons Isaac and Ishmael. It provides a framework for exploring the bonds that bring these Abrahamic religions together and the conflicts which keep them apart. The play and the discussion that follows, gives an opportunity to bring together audiences of both teens and adults. The National Council for Community and Justices interfaith partners from metro Detroit created The Children of Abraham Project that utilizes the creative arts of drama, music, improvisation and interactive dialogue, From the unique viewpoint of young people, new light is shed on these centuries-old issues.
The play is being sponsored by the Arrowhead Interfaith Council, the College of St. Scholastica the UWS Interfaith Council - United Campus Ministry, the University of Minnesota Duluth, the Islamic Center of the Twin Ports, Temple Israel, and the Ida & Arthur Silver Memorial Lecture Series. It is also supported by generous individuals from the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian communities. Tickets are available from the Mitchell Auditorium Ticket office (723-7000), as well as from planning committee members. The suggested donation is $10 and all are welcome.
